Everyone has experienced the look-good feel-good phenomena at some point in their lives. Whether it was that hot pink and all billows prom dress you just had to have in high school (which you have since thought better of) or your lucky shirt that makes you feel like a million bucks, when we think we look our best we feel more confident, invincible even. Unemployment rates, office politics, glass ceilings, cholesterol levels and special-diet desertion all forgotten—the world is your oyster. Bridget “Gigi” Goddard is keenly aware of the power of feeling confident in your own skin. With so many people reaching a certain age or state in life that seems to condemn them to taking the backseat, Gigi is looking to bring a revival in esteem through medical skin rejuvenation treatments coupled with service that is equally as rejuvenating to the spirit as the treatments are to the skin. She’s starting the revival right here in Orange County (no snake handling or holy water necessary). Two months ago she opened up her own medical day spa, aptly named Pure Indulgence Skin Rejuvenation, Inc.

Pure Indulgence Skin Rejuvenation, Inc. is a full service medical day spa with a high profile clientele (many of The Real Housewives of Orange County are Gigi’s clients and friends). The thriving business is the fruition of a vision that Gigi had 7 years ago, while working as a LDRP delivering babies at Saddleback Memorial Hospital.

“Many of the women I was meeting and becoming close with were just worn by life and you could see it all over their faces,” says Gigi. “They were feeling beat down by life, by long-past divorces, financial hardships. Just trying to get through one week to another. Just surviving. I realized that so many women were letting life’s injustices negatively impact their perception of themselves, and because of it they were letting themselves go physically as well, which made them feel all the worse about themselves mentally – a vicious cycle! I didn’t want that to happen to me and I wanted to help women be rejuvenated, re-inspired in their own beauty and worth.

So as a single mother of two and a full time nurse, Gigi started intensive training in medical aesthetics. “So many people were telling me no, telling me I couldn’t start my own day spa, that I wasn’t trained, it would be too hard as a single mom. But ‘no’ wasn’t acceptable to me. So I started looking for a network of people who would say ‘yes’.” Gigi teamed up with Bill Boullianne, who became her business partner at Pure Indulgence Skin Rejuvenation day spa, and Brian Grade who became the Medical Director. With their support, and her hard work, Gigi is now an advanced dermal injector, a trainer for leading industry products like Cutera Laser, an aesthetic researcher and she is deeply involved in product development in her field. With their combined skills, business savvy and passion, the team created a local Orange County one-stop pep-shop for the mind, body and soul.

The combination of products and services, knowledgeable execution, and a genuinely attentive staff, makes for the perfect revival of image and positive personal perception. It’s a deeper kind of aesthetic rejuvenation, because in

this day and age we’ve got more to worry about than counteracting too much time under the sun. We should probably be more worried about what too much time under the weight of the world is doing to our bodies! The spa offers facials, laser treatments, injectables and fillers, and eye lash extensions, all at a reasonable price and with an attentive personable approach. Gigi knows her stuff, but she also knows people, and that feeling younger and livelier is more than just a syringe or a peel.

“Looking good, feeling good, it’s part of the whole package,” Gigi tells me as we sit in the calming blue welcome room of her new day spa. “I’m not only a skin care specialist; I feel that in a way I’m a mentor to so many of my clients. I tell them, ‘I’m going to work with you here, help you out, cut you a deal, but you have to promise me one thing: that you’ll make a decision to take your life into your own hands as soon as I’m done!’ Because what I am doing for them is only a first step in their rejuvenation. I don’t want them getting into the “what ifs” of life. I want them to be rejuvenated in their purpose, like I was when I started this business. Times are tough. Life is tough. But negativity doesn’t help anything. Everyone needs that five minute cry time where you announce to the room ‘I’m going postal for the next five minutes, just bear with me!’” Gigi laughs. “But once that five is up you’ve got to make a decision about where your destiny is going to go. You’ve got to at least try; because there’s only one thing for certain, if you don’t do anything, nothing will change.”

“You get what you give, I say that all the time,” says Gigi. “That’s why here at Pure Indulgence, we’re about so much more than the bottom line. Everyone is treated with respect, from clients to staff. It’s not about the end dollar. We want to know our clients, not just work on them.” In a way that some might not expect, Gigi has perfected a new venue for inspiring change and purpose among her clients in a time when everyone could use a little revival of mind, body and soul.
